Early Heart Attack Care (EHAC)
Did you know that heart attacks have beginnings?
THESE "BEGINNINGS" OCCUR IN OVER 50% OF PATIENTS. Most importantly, if recognized in time, these "beginnings" can be treated before the heart is damaged!
EHAC or "Early Heart Attack Care" is a campaign intended to educate the community and caregivers on early symptoms of a heart attack in order to prevent the heart attack from ever occurring. Preventing the heart attack prevents heart damage.
Unlike most programs that promote recognition of the signs and symptoms of an impending heart attack, the EHAC initiative encourages early recognition when symptoms may be mild.
So, what are the early symptoms of a heart attack?
- Pain that travels down one or both arms
- Jaw pain
- Chest pressure, squeezing or discomfort
- Back pain
- Shortness of breath
- Feeling of fullness
Remember, people may or may not experience any or all of these symptoms! Call 911 if you experience any of the warning signs listed above. Calling 911 is the fastest way to receiving life-saving care.
